Car A/C repair in Miami Gardens

Leak checks, recharges, compressors, condensers and complete A/C installs for cars, trucks and SUVs. Air conditioning is where we started in 1992.

Auto A/C Repair at AAA Air Conditioning & Radiators, an independently owned shop at 18400 NW 2nd Ave in Miami Gardens, open since 1992. Updated .

How your car A/C moves heat: compressor (squeezes low-pressure gas into hot, high-pressure gas), then condenser (in front of the radiator; sheds heat and turns gas to liquid), then expansion valve (drops the pressure so the refrigerant can boil cold), then evaporator (behind the dash; pulls heat out of cabin air), and back around.

Air conditioning is where AAA Air Conditioning & Radiators started in 1992, and it's still the core of what we do. We service everything from Hondas, Toyotas and Chevrolets to Bentleys and Maseratis, and we build our own A/C hoses, driers and compressors. That lets us fix problems other shops send out, beat most prices, and back the work with one of the best warranties in the market.

If your vehicle didn't come with factory air, we can install a complete A/C system on almost any make and model.

Why is my car A/C blowing warm air?

The most common cause is low refrigerant from a leak. An A/C system is sealed, so if the charge is low, refrigerant is escaping somewhere: a hose, an O-ring, the condenser in front of the radiator, or the compressor shaft seal. Other causes include a failed compressor clutch, a cooling fan that isn't running, a blend door stuck on heat, or a bad pressure switch or relay. The condenser shares the radiator's cooling fans, so an engine that runs hot can make the A/C blow warm too (see radiator and cooling system repair).

Should I just get a recharge?

A recharge without finding the leak only buys time. We check system pressures, locate the leak with dye or an electronic detector, repair it, then pull a vacuum and charge the system to the manufacturer's specification so the cold air lasts.

How cold should my car A/C be?

On a hot day, a healthy system usually puts out air around 35 to 45°F at the center vent with the engine running and recirculation on. If your vents read in the 50s or warmer, the system needs a look.

Car A/C repair questions

How much does car A/C repair cost?

It depends on what failed. A leaking O-ring or hose costs far less than a compressor. We test the system first and give you a price before any work starts, and we can often quote over the phone once we know the year, make and model.

Can you install A/C in a car that didn't come with it?

Yes. We install complete A/C systems on most makes and models that didn't have air conditioning from the factory.

What refrigerant does my car use?

Most cars built before about 2015 use R-134a, and many newer models use R-1234yf. The refrigerant type is printed on a label under the hood, usually near the front of the engine bay.

Is a DIY A/C recharge a good idea?

Usually not. Cans make it easy to overcharge the system, and many contain sealers that can clog A/C parts. If the system is low there's a leak, and finding it early is cheaper than replacing a compressor later.

Do you work on luxury and exotic cars?

Yes. We service all makes, from Bentleys and Maseratis to Hondas, Toyotas and Chevrolets.
